- Optimize onboarding experience for consultants looking for opportunities
- Find opportunities to simplify or automate the collection of data needed to build an effective Clora profile
How might we increase the average profile completion rate to 75% or higher after onboarding as well as increase the number of users who complete the onboarding process?
First we looked at the competition because as Jakobs Law states Users “Spend most of their time on other sites.” This means that users prefer your site to work the same way as all the other sites they already know.

User Research
We became familiar with users by watching current consultants as they moved through the onboarding flow via SmartLook. We saw which screens took more time to fill out and observed that the average completion time for the onboarding flow was approximately 7 minutes.
- Why does Clora’s average completion rate as of June 2021 sit at 37%?
- Where are our users getting stuck and why are they getting stuck?
Define
Through observation, user interviews, and analysis of the existing personas, we were able to understand some of the key takeaways about the user, in respect to the onboarding.
Currently, when finishing the onboarding process, users ended up with about a 67% complete profile at best. Our goal is to get the number up to 75%

Design
Our solution to redesign clora’s onboarding process was to revise its content to be more clear and accessible. By combining similar questions onto the same page, we were able to decrease the total number of pages, while increasing the total information available for the onboarding process. Next, we enhanced the overall content in the process by adding new steps and information to bring up the total completion percentage. Finally, we consolidated all of that content into fewer pages, allowing us to fit multiple steps per page.
